Ramona is a fairly remote community in the San Diego County backcountry, but has good emergency services response times. The closest major hospital is in nearby Poway at Pomerado and other hospitals in San Diego, but the area is served by firefighters, ambulance companies, and police as well as the emergency response teams from the Poway and greater San Diego area. Fire, police, and rescue teams are available 24/7 for any kind of emergency. The community comes under the greater San Diego office of Emergency Services and is protected by city, county, state, and federal support organizations that are ready for any situation from fire to flood. Nearby police, paramedic, and fire stations provide a quick response to cases of violence or injury and a 911 system is in place for such emergencies.
