Poway Recreation and Parks

Poway is one of the most beautiful areas in the greater San Diego region to get out and explore trails, lakes, and backcountry vistas. Lake Poway recreation area includes fishing, boating, camping, picnicking, volleyball, softball and the Clyde Rexrode Wilderness Area, and is a wonderful place to take the family for a picnic and a hike on a weekend. For those interested in the Indian heritage of the area, there’s the Kumeyaay-Ipai Interpretive Center at Pauwai (the original name), a 5-acre site rich in local history with interpretive tours. And one of the most interesting parks in San Diego is at Old Poway Park on Midland Road which has a Heritage Museum, operating steam train, and Hamburger Factory restaurant, historic buildings, rental facilities, and picnicking. And for outdoor competitive sports there’s Poway Community Park with a swim center, lighted athletic fields, auditorium, dog park, tennis courts, basketball court, and Senior Center. There’s also something to do in Poway to get outdoors and play!
