Oceanside Recreation and Parks

Oceanside is a great place for outdoor activities on the beach and inland. The San Luis Rey River Extension Project hopes to extend the current San Luis Rey River Trail, a wonderful hiking trail that the whole family can enjoy with great views of the San Luis Rey River and valleys. Oceanside Dog Park is an award-winning park suitable for dogs to be off-leash and enjoy the day out. The newest park is Manch Buchanon Park, formerly River Park, alongside the San Luis Rey River. When finished it will be a 29-acre park and 140acre middle school designed with kids activities in mind. Other recreational activities include swimming, snorkeling, diving, fishing, sun-bathing, wind- and kite-surfing, and children’s programs at city and county parks.
