To the east in Mission Valley is Mission San Diego de Alcala, for which the area is named. At the southwestern end is Presidio Park, the site of the founding of the original town of San Diego in 1769. Mission Valley until the 1960s was a fertile valley and photographs show farms and dairies throughout the valley extending into the backcountry to the east. Three major shopping malls are Fashion Valley Mall, Hazard Center Mall, and Westfield Mission Valley. The area along Interstate 8 running roughly from Presidio Park to Highway 163 is lined with hotels on both sides of the freeway, and is commonly referred to as "Hotel Circle." Some newly-built condominiums and apartments can be found in the area as well. Qualcomm Stadium, home of the San Diego Chargers and the San Diego State University (SDSU) Aztecs football teams, is located in Mission Valley East near the I-8/I-15 interchange. Nearby, Dave & Buster's restaurant and entertainment venue is located at the intersection of the I-8 and I-805. At the outlet of Mission Valley West is Sea World, Mission Bay, and many other San Diego attractions.
