Lake Lindo is the body of water where the community began. It is the only natural freshwater lake in San Diego, created by runoff from the nearby mountains. Lakeside is home to the Maine Avenue Street Dance and Spirit of Christmas and is most well known locally as the site of the annual Lakeside Rodeo. The event brings top rodeo riders from across the country to compete. The Western Days Parade is a local favorite and part of the Rodeo events.
