La Mesa Schools

La Mesa, east of downtown San Diego off the 94 freeway and near Spring Valley, is in the La Mesa-Lemon Grove School District, an award-winning district that attracts high-quality teachers from around the country. High Schools in the area are Mount Miguel High with 2,140 students (9-12) and Monte Vista High with 1,942 students (9-12); there are two middle schools, Parkway Middle School and La Mesa Middle, both 6th to 8th grade; and eight elementary schools (K-5) with approximately 500 students each. The area has a high commitment to quality education shown in the strong involvement of parents in the schools.
