Muirlands

Developed beginning in the 1920’s, La Jolla’s Muirlands neighborhood was one of its first.  Today, Muirlands remains one of La Jolla’s most desired areas.  Situated on the west side of Mount Soledad, most estates here consist of large, elegant homes set back from gently curving roads on sprawling lots.  Most homes in this area have spectacular Pacific Ocean and sunset views.  Along acclaimed Old Muirlands Drive, be sure to marvel at the original street gutters cobbled from ocean pebbles.  It is hard to believe that the million dollar lots here were sold for $1500.00 in the 1930s!  On Muirland’s lower elevations, La Jolla Rancho Road’s homes were developed circa 1970-1980, many with ocean views.  Avienda Mañana homes were built beginning in the 1960’s and present a popular option.  Muirlands consists of exclusively detached single-family residences, with no businesses, but is located conveniently close to Bird Rock’s Restaurant Row, as well as the Village of La Jolla.
