Encinitas Entertainment
Encinitas has plenty to offer by way of entertainment. From daytime excursions to nighttime activities, there is something for everyone to enjoy. Adults and children alike will have a great time experiencing all that Encinitas holds.
La Paloma Theatre
When it first opened its doors in 1922, La Paloma was one of the first theatres to show “talkies.” Today you can not only catch a showing of the latest movie there, but they also host community events, concerts, and other performances. Such diverse musical artists as Switchfoot, Jerry Garcia, and Eddie Vedder have performed at La Paloma in the past. In addition to new releases, every Friday at midnight La Paloma shows the cult classic Rocky Horror Picture Show.
101 Artists Colony
Home to 35 local artists, this gallery features a wide variety of visual arts – see it all from paintings to sculptures to photography. The space provides the artists with a place to work and display their art in a caring environment. Their monthly exhibitions are worth checking out and the studios and gallery gift shop are open to the public daily except Mondays.
Lux Art Institute
While the entire concept of the Institute is yet to be completed, the existing space offers educational art classes for kids and special events, such as Lux After Dark. Once the building is completed on this 4-acre complex, the project will focus on both local and national artists creating works of art out of, and inspired by, nature. It will offer residency to artists as part of its program. Upon completion (slated for late 2006), visitors will be able to experience this one-of-a-kind facility for themselves.
