Del Cerro Real EstateDel Cerro was started in the mid-1950s when religious discrimination in La Jolla was the impetus for the development of a Jewish community in this area. Located in the eastern part of San Diego, Del Cerro neighbors the communities of San Carlos, Allied Gardens, College Area, Grantville Lake Murray and the city of La Mesa. There is also a Navajo Indian community here that takes part in yearly events and festivities. Del Cerro Homes for Sale
In recent years the community has fought efforts of San Diego State University to expand into the community. Some of the older neighborhoods in Del Cerro include the affluent Del Cerro Heights, Princess Del Cerro, and Old Del Cerro. Del Cerro Boulevard has complete commercial areas including Windmill Farms which provides the majority of the community with groceries. Most of the buildings here are single-family residences, apartments, and bungalows, giving the area an established, charming ambience, and providing for great tree-lined neighborhoods. There are many great views in Del Cerro and some choice property lots include views as far as the Coronado Islands! Established schools in the area are well respected, such as Phoebe Hearst Elementary School and Patrick Henry High School, where Heisman Trophy winner Ricky Williams went to high school. Professional golfer Phil Mickelson was also born and raised in Del Cerro. Community Events include the Annual Block Party held in Old Del Cerro on Glenmont Street and Marne Avenue. Live bands, food, and entertainment attract people from all over San Diego, and a July 4 fireworks celebration is held at nearby Lake Murray.
